HOW TO PARK
How to park - parallel parking in 3 steps
One of the tasks of the web page „Žena v autě.cz“ is to bust the myth that women are bad drivers. It is not true! It is a fact, however, that for many women (as well as men) parallel parking remains a problem. No reason to be worried. In cooperation with Autoškola King driving school we have prepared 3 pieces of “gold” advice how to park well.
The basic is to keep calm, find a proper place big enough for your car, e.g. 1.5 of the length of your car. Do not forget to switch on a right turn indicator to let other drivers know that you are going to park.
When you find the proper place stop your car along the car that is parked before the free place so that to have rear mirrors side by side. Mind the real size of your car.
Put on reverse gear and turn the steering wheel to the right as much as possible. Don´t step on accelerator, only gently release gear; your car will reverse slowly. Have your right feet ready near a break, never near accelerator.
When you see a back part of the car parked next to you before the middle pillar on the side of a front passenger, and you are in an angle of about 40o, stop and turn the steering wheel to the straight position. Again release gear and reverse for about 30 cm toward the curb.
When you see a back part of the car parked next to you before the front pillar on the side of a front passenger, and you are 30 cm from the curb, stop and turn the steering wheel to the left as much as possible and reverse.
You car will align with the curb and you will stop in the middle of the free place. You can also recline a right mirror and watch the distance of your car from the curb.
No need to hurry with parking.
Find a place where you will not be stressed.
Don´t let any impatient drives to make you nervous.
Each skill requires training and repetitions so don´t panic after the first failure.
