Countries with smoking bans and fines
Smoking bans in passenger cars in European countries are most often in place when children or pregnant women are in the car.

England and Wales: Smoking is prohibited in vehicles if there are persons under 18 in them. Violations are punishable by a fine of £50 (CZK 1,450). An exception applies for convertibles.
Belgium: Smoking is prohibited in vehicles if there are persons under 18 in them. Violations are punishable by a fine of €130 (CZK 3,120). An exception applies for convertibles.
Finland: Smoking is prohibited in vehicles if there are persons under 15 in them. However, the ban does not apply to the living areas of the vehicle.
France: Smoking is prohibited in vehicles if there are persons under 18 in them. Violations are punishable by a fine of €135 (€3,240).
Italy: smoking is prohibited in cars if pregnant women or minors are in them. Fine for violations ranges from €50 to €500 (€1,200 to €12,000) if pregnant women or children under 12 are in the vehicle. If children aged 12 to 17 are present as passengers, the fine ranges from €25 to €250 (CZK 600 to CZK 6,000).
Ireland: Smoking is prohibited in vehicles if there are persons under 18 in them. Violations are punishable by a fine of €100 (CZK 2,400).
Cyprus: Smoking is prohibited in vehicles with passengers under 16. Violations are punishable by a fine of €85 (€2,040).
Luxembourg: Smoking is prohibited in cars if there are passengers under 12. Fines for violations range from €25 to €250 (CZK 600 to CZK 6,000).
Poland: There is no general ban on smoking in cars in Poland. However, smoking is prohibited on all single track vehicles. Motorcyclists, moped riders and cyclists are not allowed to smoke while riding.
Austria: Smoking is prohibited in vehicles if there are persons under 18 in them. Violations are punishable by a fine of €100 (CZK 2,400), rising to €1,000 (CZK 24,000) if the offence is repeated.
Greece: Smoking is prohibited in vehicles if there are persons under 12 in them. The regulation applies to private cars, taxis and public buses. Violations are punishable by a fine of up to €1,500 (CZK 36,000). If you smoke on public transport (driver or passenger), the driver faces a fine of up to €3,000 (CZK 72,000) and a ban from driving for a month.
Scotland: Smoking is prohibited in vehicles if there are persons under 18 in them. Violations are punishable by a fine of £100 (CZK 2,400). E-cigarettes are not affected.
Slovenia: Smoking is prohibited in vehicles if there are persons under 18 in them. Violations are punishable by a fine of €250 (CZK 6,000).
