I found Autoškola KING around my 60th birthday in late November, just as I was beginning to feel discouraged in my search. Due to CZ residence rules, my California drivers license was no longer valid for me to legally drive. I do not speak fluent Czech yet and a lengthy holiday trip was coming up which my family expected me to drive them on. Until that time, I had called three other driving schools and none of them had even bothered to return my inquiries. Finally, I asked my assistant, Silvia, to help me. I told her three things were important to me. First, I wanted a driving school experienced in teaching expats (foreigners). Second, I needed instruction in English. And third, since I am not a beginner (I have been licensed for 45 years in USA), I wanted a school who would respect my experience and focus on teaching me the essential Czech driving rules that were different than those in the USA. I did not want to spend unnecessary time and money learning the common rules that I already knew. After searching the internet and making several phone calls, Silvia, advised me that my best choice, by far, was Autoškola KING. And she was right! Pavel the owner, Markéta my instructor & the rest of Team KING, exceeded my expectations. From the time I first met Markéta, for our first lesson on December 11th, it was only 9 days later that she had me queued up with Irina (a fantastic translator), to meet me at the test center so I could take the written test. I passed the exam on the first try and I only missed one question. Then, 2 days later, on December 22, the last possible day before they closed for Christmas, I passed the practical exam too. On top of that King even gave me some money back, based on my actual time of instruction. For any of you reading this who might be in a similar situation as me, I can’t say enough good things about this school. The CZ course material was a lot more challenging than I expected. I studied 2 to 4 hours a day for a week leading up to the test. The KING study guide thoroughly covers every possible exam question (over 600 I believe) and I felt that it prepped me well for the written exam. I also appreciate all informative video content that Pavel has posted on YouTube. Many of the videos have English subtitles which helped me immensely with my learning. The videos feature Pavel, sharing important lessons, while having fun and even clowning around a bit with some local celebrities in a few of them. He clearly loves what he does and his passion for instructing drivers is extraordinary. My driving teacher Markéta was also indispensable. She is an emotionally intelligent and experienced world traveler who possesses an excellent understanding of the differences between CZ driving rules and other countries, such as the USA. She also knows the back streets of Prague where there are some unusual situations to navigate as well as several tricks that the examiners reportedly use to trip up inexperienced students. From our first outing, Markéta quickly discovered my driving deficiencies and helped me correct them with practice and diligent study over the 11 days it that it took me to pass the exams. In closing, I want to say a big THANK YOU to Markéta, Pavel and the team at Autoškola King. I really appreciate what you do!Back in Montana, where I learned to drive at the age of 15, they have a saying, ‘You can’t teach an old dog new tricks!’But that’s not true to me any longer because you taught this ‘old dog’ to pass the Czech drivers exam in 11 days. That’s no easy thing!
